One day, when they were on safari in one of their favourite wild places, Kruger National Park, Esther Keats came up with the idea of writing books about nature for children. Derek had co-authored three children’s books many years ago when they lived in Fiji, so it did not seem so far-fetched. Thus, Kenga Publishing was born.

Kenga Publishing is a small publisher of children’s nature books. We are dedicated to inspiring a love for nature and conservation in children from an early age. We draw inspiration from our experience with the rich South African natural heritage, which sparks young readers to explore, discover, and learn. Its long-term goal is to publish books by authors with years of experience in nature and for these books to be firmly rooted in science.
